Job Title: Technical Lead – WASH

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Technical Lead to oversee our Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programs in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and strategic direction to ensure the effective implementation of WASH projects, improving the lives of communities in need. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement WASH strategies, programs, and projects in line with the organization’s mission and goals
  • Provide technical guidance and support to WASH project teams, ensuring high-quality program delivery and adherence to international standards
  • Conduct WASH-related research, assessments, and analyses to identify areas of need and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to promote WASH initiatives and leverage resources
  • Develop and manage WASH project budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and value for money
  • Supervise and mentor WASH project staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance
  • Represent the organization in WASH-related forums, meetings, and conferences, promoting the organization’s work and interests

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field from a reputable Ethiopian university
  • At least 5 years of experience in WASH programming, with a focus on project design, implementation, and management
  • Proven technical expertise in WASH, including water supply, sanitation, hygiene promotion, and water resource management
  • Excellent project management and coordination skills, with experience in managing multiple projects and teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships
  • Fluency in English and Amharic, with excellent written and spoken skills
  • Experience working with international NGOs, UN agencies, or government institutions is an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other software applications, with experience in data analysis and management
