Job Description

Key responsibilities summary

Technical Support and Facilitation

Provide appropriate curative and preventive treatment for all patients in compliance with the national standard treatment protocols and rational use of medicines.
Deliver child health services through the temporary Under-5 OPD, including management of sick children using the IMNCI protocol, immunization (EPI), Vitamin A supplementation, deworming, and Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP).
Conduct routine screening of under-five children, pregnant women, and lactating women for acute malnutrition, common illnesses, and other life-threatening conditions, and implement Essential Nutrition Actions (ENAs).
Identify and manage children with acute malnutrition in accordance with the national CMAM guideline, including referral and linkage to OTP and SC services as appropriate.
Ensure regular nutritional screening and timely referral of complicated and emergency cases beyond the team’s capacity to the nearest health centre or hospital.
Plan and conduct community awareness and health promotion activities focusing on preventive health care issues as outlined in the MHNTS package.
Support and follow up Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) and community sensitization activities in collaboration with HEWs and community volunteers.
Train and provide on-the-job support to Health Extension Workers (HEWs) and community-based volunteer health workers on prevention, case identification, reporting, and response as per national guidelines.
Participate in the selection, establishment, and functional strengthening of MHNT operational sites, including support to nearby health posts.
Provide a support package to health posts, including service delivery support, HEWs’ capacity building on recording and reporting, active case search, model household training, supply management, and cold chain management.
Conduct regular monitoring and supportive supervision visits to supported health posts and ensure quality service delivery.
Ensure the MHNT is adequately equipped with essential drugs, medical supplies, nutrition commodities, and cold chain requirements necessary for service provision.
Assist in the transportation and proper handling of medical supplies and equipment to operational sites and supported health facilities.
Compile and submit timely and accurate reports of health and nutrition activities to the supervisor and support reporting to the Woreda Health Office.
Promptly alert the immediate supervisor to any technical, operational, or supply issues requiring attention or higher-level support.
Maintain effective working relationships with government health staff, HEWs, community volunteers, and other partners to ensure coordinated service delive
Planning, Reporting and Accountability

Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and any other required documentation for submission to the health officer/woreda team leader
Ensure and support the Woreda Health Office (WoHO) staff in reporting, recording and supply management of OTP and SC program
Ensure  weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the health officer/ woreda team leader using appropriate format (narrative and statistics with database)
Report any problems in a timely manner to the health officer/ woreda team leader
Ensure that program participants and stakeholders have clear information about the program activities as appropriate and relevant to them.
At all times, adhere to policies and guidelines of Concern.
Support on cascading induction on   mainstreaming gender, protection, accountability, HIV/AIDS, and equality to other project staff

Ensure proper documentation of good practices, success stories, challenges for learning  and sharing
Follow clearly appropriate protocols and guidelines – Concern and National.
Write notes clearly and neatly on health card or admission chart
Document clearly the admission and discharge diagnosis for each patient according to national statistical definitions to enable good analysis by the mobile team
Write prescriptions clearly and neatly on health card or prescription chart
Properly fill multi-chart and tally sheet at the end of each day
Ensure any investigations carried out are clearly marked on the health card or admission chart
Participate in the weekly/ monthly data compilation and  reporting of Mobile activities
Prepare both weekly and monthly reports regarding your activities, identified, problems and proposed solutions for your immediate supervisor and program manager (if he/she needs it)
Ensure timely request of drugs, supplies and other program items.
Additional Duties

Perform other duties assigned by the line manager for the accomplishment of programme objectives.
