Lead Global Technical Specialist (Rural Finance) – Re-Advertisement

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Global Technical Specialist in Rural Finance to join our team. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of rural finance programs, products, and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in rural finance, microfinance, and agricultural finance, with a deep understanding of the Ethiopian context and the ability to work with international teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement rural finance strategies, programs, and products that meet the needs of rural communities and smallholder farmers
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to local financial institutions, cooperatives, and other stakeholders
  • Conduct research and analysis on rural finance markets, trends, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to program design and implementation
  • Collaborate with international teams, donors, and partners to secure funding and resources for rural finance initiatives
  • Design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to track program impact and effectiveness
  • Represent the organization in national and international forums, conferences, and meetings related to rural finance and microfinance

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, or related field from a recognized Ethiopian or international university
  • At least 8 years of experience in rural finance, microfinance, or agricultural finance, with a focus on program design, implementation, and management
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing rural finance programs, products, and services
  • Strong understanding of the Ethiopian financial sector, including regulatory frameworks, policies, and institutions
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Fluency in English and Amharic is required; knowledge of other local languages is an asset
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural areas of Ethiopia and internationally
