Job Title: WASH Officer

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced WASH Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs in various settings, with a focus on improving the health and well-being of communities. The WASH Officer will work closely with local authorities, stakeholders, and other team members to ensure the effective delivery of WASH services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments to identify WASH needs and priorities in target areas
  • Design and implement WASH programs, including water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion activities
  • Develop and manage project budgets, work plans, and reports
  • Collaborate with local authorities, stakeholders, and other team members to ensure effective delivery of WASH services
  • Provide technical support and training to local communities, partners, and stakeholders on WASH-related issues
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of WASH programs and make recommendations for improvement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities, stakeholders, and other partners to advance WASH program goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • At least 3 years of experience in WASH programming, with a focus on water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion
  • Strong understanding of WASH principles, technologies, and methodologies
  • Experience in project management, including budgeting, work planning, and reporting
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community mobilization skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships with local authorities, stakeholders, and other partners
  • Fluency in English and Amharic; knowledge of other local languages is an asset
  • Willingness to travel to rural areas and work in challenging environments
