Brief Summary

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead the standardization, validation, translation, and distribution of the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM/MHH) Training Manual in accessible formats. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to ensure that the manual is culturally sensitive, technically accurate, and accessible to diverse audiences, including those with disabilities. The goal of this project is to promote menstrual hygiene management and support the development of inclusive and equitable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and standardize the existing MHM/MHH Training Manual to ensure technical accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and consistency with national and international guidelines.
  • Conduct a thorough validation process with relevant stakeholders, including government officials, WASH experts, and community members, to ensure the manual is relevant and effective.
  • Translate the manual into local languages, including Amharic, Oromiffa, and Somali, and ensure that the translations are accurate and accessible.
  • Develop accessible formats of the manual, including braille, large print, and audio versions, to ensure that it is inclusive and usable by people with disabilities.
  • Distribute the standardized, validated, translated, and accessible manual to relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
  • Provide training and technical support to stakeholders on the use of the manual and the importance of MHM/MHH in WASH programs.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Public Health, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university.
  • At least 5 years of experience in WASH programming, MHM/MHH, or a related field, with a focus on inclusive and equitable programming.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing training manuals, guidelines, and protocols, with a focus on accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic, with the ability to translate and interpret technical information into local languages.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and a commitment to promoting inclusive and equitable programming.
  • Familiarity with national and international guidelines and standards for WASH programming, MHM/MHH, and accessibility.
