Job Title: Senior Chemist

As a Senior Chemist, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of chemical processes, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the highest level of quality and safety in our laboratory and manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new chemical processes and products, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Lead a team of chemists and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure successful project execution
  • Conduct research and development activities, including experimentation, data analysis, and reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality control, and sales, to ensure alignment and effective communication
  • Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting and problem-solving, ensuring timely resolution of issues
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Chemistry or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university or a foreign university accredited by the Ethiopian Ministry of Education
  • At least 5 years of experience in a chemistry-related field, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior role
  • Strong knowledge of chemical principles, processes, and safety protocols
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in laboratory equipment and software, including HPLC, GC, and spectroscopy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop innovative solutions
  • Certification in occupational health and safety, such as OSHA or equivalent, is an advantage
  • Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
