Job Title: IC-National Gender Analyst Consultant for UNDP Senegal

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Gender Analyst Consultant to work with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Senegal. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and support to the UNDP country office in mainstreaming gender equality and women’s empowerment in all aspects of its programming and operations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of gender equality and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Senegal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct gender analysis and provide recommendations to inform UNDP’s programming and policy development in Senegal
  • Support the integration of gender equality and women’s empowerment principles into UNDP’s projects and programs
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to UNDP staff, government counterparts, and other stakeholders on gender equality and women’s empowerment
  • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration between UNDP, government, and civil society organizations to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment
  • Develop and implement a gender mainstreaming strategy for the UNDP country office
  • Provide input to UNDP’s reporting and monitoring frameworks to ensure that gender equality and women’s empowerment are adequately reflected and tracked

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field such as gender studies, sociology, anthropology, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in gender analysis, programming, and policy development, preferably with the United Nations or other international organizations
  • Proven expertise in gender mainstreaming, gender equality, and women’s empowerment, with a strong understanding of the social, economic, and cultural context of Senegal
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and policy briefs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and community leaders
  • Fluency in English and French is required; proficiency in local languages is an asset
  • Familiarity with the Ethiopian education system is not required, however the candidate should have a strong understanding of the African context and the ability to work in a multicultural environment
