Financial Inclusion Advisor
Brief Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Inclusion Advisor to join our team in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will provide technical assistance and strategic guidance to our organization and partners to enhance financial inclusion and access to financial services for underserved populations. The Financial Inclusion Advisor will work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop strategies, and implement initiatives that promote financial inclusion and contribute to the country’s economic growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities and challenges in the financial inclusion landscape in Ethiopia
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance financial inclusion, including product development, market research, and stakeholder engagement
- Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to financial institutions, regulators, and other stakeholders to enhance their financial inclusion capabilities
- Collaborate with government agencies, private sector companies, and civil society organizations to promote financial inclusion and access to financial services
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of financial inclusion initiatives and provide recommendations for improvement
- Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including financial institutions, regulators, and community leaders
- Stay up-to-date with global best practices and trends in financial inclusion and apply this knowledge to the Ethiopian context
Requirements
- Masters’ degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian or international university
- At least 5 years of experience in financial inclusion, microfinance, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in promoting financial inclusion
- Strong understanding of the Ethiopian financial sector, including regulatory frameworks, market trends, and consumer needs
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Fluency in English and Amharic, with the ability to communicate effectively in other local languages an asset
- Strong project management and implementation skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with Ethiopian professional standards, including those related to banking, microfinance, and financial regulation
