FGM & GBV Prevention Advisor

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FGM & GBV Prevention Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to prevent Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Ethiopia. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a significant impact in the lives of women and girls in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to prevent FGM and GBV in Ethiopia, in collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify the root causes of FGM and GBV, and develop evidence-based interventions to address these issues
  • Build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to leverage resources and expertise
  • Design and deliver training programs for healthcare providers, community leaders, and other stakeholders on FGM and GBV prevention and response
  • Develop and disseminate educational materials and awareness campaigns to promote the elimination of FGM and GBV
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate FGM and GBV prevention into existing programs and services
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of FGM and GBV prevention programs, and make recommendations for improvement

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field, from a recognized Ethiopian or international university
  • At least 5 years of experience in FGM and GBV prevention, preferably in Ethiopia or a similar context
  • Strong knowledge of the Ethiopian context, including the social, cultural, and economic factors that contribute to FGM and GBV
  • Experience in program design, implementation, and evaluation, with a focus on community-based initiatives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Fluency in Amharic and English, with the ability to communicate effectively in other local languages an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Certificate of registration with relevant professional associations, such as the Ethiopian Public Health Association, an asset
