Job Title: Environmental, Health and Safety Officer (EHS Officer)

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental, Health and Safety Officer (EHS Officer) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as developing and implementing policies and procedures to minimize risks and prevent accidents. The EHS Officer will play a key role in promoting a culture of safety and sustainability within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations
• Provide training and awareness programs to employees on environmental, health, and safety issues
• Investigate accidents and incidents, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence
• Collaborate with management and employees to develop and implement safety procedures and protocols
• Monitor and report on environmental, health, and safety performance metrics
• Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and industry best practices, and recommend updates to policies and procedures as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety management, preferably in a similar industry
• NEBOSH or OSHA certification is an added advantage
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience with environmental, health, and safety management software
• Fluency in English and Amharic (spoken and written)
