Job Description

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Health & Safety Engineer Head to join our team. As the Health & Safety Engineer Head, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our organization’s health and safety management system, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and international standards. You will lead a team of health and safety professionals, providing guidance and oversight to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and review the organization’s health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification to identify potential health and safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Lead and manage a team of health and safety professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
• Develop and implement health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and third-party vendors.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of the organization’s operations.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in a similar industry or sector.
• Professional certification in health and safety, such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian labor laws and regulations, as well as international health and safety standards and best practices.
• Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in leading and managing a team of health and safety professionals.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
