Job Title: Consultancy Service Bid on Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) Assessment

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and qualified consultant to conduct an Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) assessment for our organization. The successful bidder will be responsible for evaluating the environmental and social risks associated with our operations and providing recommendations for mitigation and management. This is a critical role that requires a deep understanding of environmental and social regulations, as well as the ability to analyze complex data and provide actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive ESDD assessment of our operations, including site visits and stakeholder engagement
  • Identify and assess environmental and social risks, including those related to pollution, biodiversity, community impacts, and human rights
  • Develop a report outlining the findings of the ESDD assessment, including recommendations for mitigation and management of identified risks
  • Provide training and capacity building to our staff on environmental and social management best practices
  • Develop a monitoring and evaluation plan to track the implementation of recommended mitigation measures

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Environmental Science, Social Science, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian or international university
  • At least 5 years of experience in conducting ESDD assessments, preferably in Ethiopia or similar contexts
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality ESDD reports and providing effective recommendations for risk mitigation and management
  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian environmental and social regulations, as well as international best practices and standards
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluency in English and Amharic is required, with proficiency in other local languages being an advantage
  • Registered membership with a relevant professional body, such as the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority or the Ethiopian Association of Social Scientists
