Job Description
Core Responsibilities
Receive and systematically log all incoming green coffee samples, ensuring traceability from origin to lab.
Maintain a clean and categorised inventory of samples to facilitate efficient retrieval for roasting and analysis.
Conduct comprehensive physical grading based on international (SCA) standards.
Perform moisture content analysis, water activity testing, and screen sizing.
Execute precise defect counts (Primary and Secondary) to determine the grade and commercial value of the coffee.
Operate sample roasters to achieve specific “cupping profiles”—typically light to medium roasts—ensuring consistency across different batches.
Prepare daily sensory evaluation sessions. This includes precise weighing (coffee-to-water ratios), water chemistry monitoring, and strict temperature control.
Maintain detailed, error-free logs of all physical analysis data and cupping scores.
Support the quality department in preparing the necessary sensory and technical reports for export-grade documentation.
Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
About You
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in Food Science, Agronomy, Chemistry, or a related field).
Technical Literacy: Demonstrated comfort using laboratory equipment such as moisture meters, digital scales, and sieves.
