Job Title: Chief Surveyor

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Chief Surveyor to lead our survey team in providing high-quality surveying services to our clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of surveying operations, including planning, execution, and delivery of survey projects. The Chief Surveyor will also be responsible for ensuring that all survey work is carried out in accordance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and manage survey projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery
  • Conduct field surveys, including topographic, boundary, and engineering surveys, using a range of surveying equipment and techniques
  • Supervise and mentor junior surveyors, providing guidance and training to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively
  • Ensure that all survey data is accurate, reliable, and compliant with industry standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and architecture, to ensure that survey data is integrated into project designs and plans
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that survey work meets the required standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university, such as Addis Ababa University or Arbaminch University
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in surveying, with at least 3 years in a senior surveying role
  • Professional certification as a Licensed Surveyor from the Ethiopian Ministry of Urban Development and Construction
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, practices, and techniques, including GPS, GIS, and CAD
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of surveyors
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and other departments
  • Proficiency in surveying software, such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Leica GeoMoS
