IYCF Supervisor Job Description

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced IYCF Supervisor to oversee the implementation of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) programs in various regions of Ethiopia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical guidance, supervision, and support to ensure the effective delivery of IYCF services, promoting optimal nutrition and health outcomes for infants and young children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IYCF programs and activities in accordance with national guidelines and international best practices
  • Provide technical assistance, coaching, and mentoring to health workers, community health agents, and other stakeholders on IYCF-related issues
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor program implementation, identify gaps, and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and other partners to strengthen IYCF services and promote a multi-sectoral approach to nutrition
  • Develop and submit regular reports on program progress, challenges, and lessons learned to inform future programming and decision-making

Requirements

  • BSc degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • At least 3 years of experience in IYCF programming, nutrition, or a related field, with a focus on community-based interventions
  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian national guidelines and policies related to IYCF, as well as international best practices and standards
  • Proven experience in program management, supervision, and team leadership, with a focus on building capacity and promoting staff development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and health workers
  • Fluency in English and Amharic, with the ability to communicate effectively in other local languages an asset
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural areas, with a valid driver’s license and ability to drive a manual vehicle an asset
