Refugee Education Transition Advisor

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Refugee Education Transition Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and support to refugees and asylum seekers, helping them to access and transition into the Ethiopian education system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, refugee support, and community development, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement education transition plans for refugees and asylum seekers, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
• Provide individualized support and guidance to refugees and asylum seekers, helping them to access and navigate the Ethiopian education system
• Build and maintain relationships with local schools, universities, and other education providers, to facilitate access to education for refugees and asylum seekers
• Conduct needs assessments and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in refugee education
• Collaborate with other teams and organizations to develop and implement comprehensive support services for refugees and asylum seekers
• Develop and deliver training and capacity-building programs for education providers, on refugee education and support

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• At least 3 years of experience working with refugees and asylum seekers, in an education or support role
• Strong knowledge of the Ethiopian education system, including policies and procedures for accessing education as a refugee or asylum seeker
• Experience in developing and implementing education transition plans, and providing individualized support to refugees and asylum seekers
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with knowledge of other local languages an advantage
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on results and impact
