Import & Export Manager

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Import & Export Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the import and export of goods, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing the logistics of international trade. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international trade, logistics, and supply chain management, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement import and export strategies to achieve business objectives
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure smooth and efficient import and export operations
• Conduct market research and analyze trade data to identify new business opportunities and stay up-to-date with market trends
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including customs regulations, export controls, and product safety standards
• Manage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and logistics providers
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of import and export operations
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with international trade, including currency fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in import and export management, logistics, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian customs regulations, export controls, and product safety standards
• Experience with international trade agreements, such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications, including logistics and supply chain management software
• Fluency in English, with knowledge of other languages, such as Amharic, an added advantage
