Job Title: MEAL Officer

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing effective MEAL systems to track program performance, ensure accountability, and facilitate learning. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the improvement of our programs and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive MEAL plans and systems to monitor program progress and impact
• Design and conduct surveys, assessments, and evaluations to collect data and inform program decisions
• Develop and maintain databases to store and manage MEAL data, and ensure data quality and integrity
• Analyze and interpret MEAL data, and provide insights and recommendations to program teams
• Facilitate learning and reflection among program teams, and ensure that lessons learned are documented and incorporated into program design and implementation
• Ensure accountability to beneficiaries and stakeholders through the establishment of complaint response mechanisms and feedback systems
• Collaborate with program teams to integrate MEAL findings into program design, implementation, and reporting
• Develop and manage MEAL budgets, and ensure effective use of resources

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as statistics, sociology, economics, or international development
• At least 3 years of experience in MEAL, preferably in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or international development context
• Proven experience in designing and implementing MEAL systems, including data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with strong writing and reporting skills
• Familiarity with Ethiopian government policies and guidelines related to MEAL and international development
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
