Terms of Reference (ToR) for Market and Livelihood Assessment Together for Sustainable Future (T4SF) Project
Brief Summary
The Together for Sustainable Future (T4SF) project is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct a comprehensive Market and Livelihood Assessment. The objective of this assessment is to understand the current market systems, livelihood opportunities, and challenges faced by the target communities. The findings of this assessment will inform the design and implementation of the T4SF project interventions, ensuring that they are contextually relevant, effective, and sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a thorough review of existing literature and secondary data on market systems and livelihoods in the project area
- Design and implement a primary data collection methodology, including surveys, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews
- Collect and analyze data on market trends, livelihood opportunities, and challenges faced by the target communities
- Identify opportunities for market-based interventions and develop recommendations for the T4SF project
- Develop a comprehensive report detailing the findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the assessment
- Present the findings and recommendations to the T4SF project team and stakeholders
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
- At least 5 years of experience in conducting market and livelihood assessments, preferably in the context of development projects
- Strong understanding of market systems and livelihoods in Ethiopia, particularly in rural areas
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner
- Fluency in English and Amharic, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies is an advantage
- Familiarity with the Ethiopian context, including the government’s development policies and strategies
