Terms of Reference (TOR) Documentary on the Leave No Youth Behind Project

Brief Summary

The Leave No Youth Behind Project is seeking a skilled filmmaker to produce a documentary that showcases the project’s impact, successes, and lessons learned. The documentary will highlight the project’s efforts to support youth development and empowerment, and will be used to raise awareness, promote the project’s goals, and inform stakeholders about its achievements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in documentary filmmaking, excellent storytelling skills, and experience working with international development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a concept and script for the documentary, in collaboration with the project team and stakeholders
  • Plan and execute filming schedules, including location scouting, equipment setup, and crew management
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure that the documentary aligns with the project’s goals and messaging
  • Edit and finalize the documentary, including visual effects, sound design, and music composition
  • Deliver a high-quality documentary that meets the project’s expectations and is suitable for international audiences

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Communications, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • At least 5 years of experience in documentary filmmaking, with a portfolio that demonstrates expertise in storytelling and visual narrative
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality documentaries for international development projects or organizations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including project beneficiaries, staff, and partners
  • Strong understanding of the Ethiopian context, including cultural and social nuances, and experience working with local communities
  • Fluency in English, with proficiency in Amharic or other local languages an added advantage
  • Familiarity with international development projects and the ability to work with complex, sensitive topics
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
