Senior Systems Administrator

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to lead our IT infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall administration, maintenance, and security of our computer systems, networks, and related infrastructure. This is a senior-level position that requires a high level of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain computer systems, networks, and related infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance
• Develop and enforce system administration policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with organizational requirements
• Lead and manage a team of system administrators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective system administration
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of systems, networks, and applications
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, network, and application issues, using debugging tools and techniques
• Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal downtime in case of system failures
• Conduct regular system audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential security risks

Requirements

• BSc degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field from a reputable Ethiopian university
• At least 5 years of experience in system administration, with a focus on Linux/Unix systems and network administration
• Strong knowledge of system administration tools, including shell scripting, automation tools, and configuration management systems
• Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or KVM, and cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex system issues and develop effective solutions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Certifications in system administration, such as Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCSA, or Linux LPIC, are highly desirable
• Knowledge of Ethiopian laws and regulations related to IT and data protection is an added advantage
