Job Title: Senior Project Officer II-Agribusiness in Livestock
Brief Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Project Officer II-Agribusiness in Livestock to lead our agribusiness development initiatives in the livestock sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring projects that promote livestock production, processing, and marketing. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to the growth and development of Ethiopia’s agricultural sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project proposals, work plans, and budgets to achieve agribusiness development goals in the livestock sector
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities and challenges in the livestock value chain
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including farmers, pastoralists, private sector companies, and government agencies, to promote livestock production and marketing
- Provide technical assistance and training to smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and other stakeholders on livestock production, health, and marketing
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, identify lessons learned, and make recommendations for improvement
- Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector companies, and civil society organizations
Requirements
- MSc degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
- At least 5 years of experience in agribusiness development, livestock production, or a related field, with a focus on project management and implementation
- Proven track record of success in designing, implementing, and monitoring projects in the livestock sector
- Strong understanding of the Ethiopian livestock sector, including market trends, challenges, and opportunities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Fluency in Amharic and English, with proficiency in other local languages an advantage
- Experience with project management tools, including project planning, monitoring, and evaluation software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to travel frequently to project sites
