Senior Backend Engineer / Lead

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the backend systems of our job board platform, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and reliable
• Lead a team of backend engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to help them grow in their careers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, quality assurance engineers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration and delivery of new features
• Contribute to the development of our technology strategy, staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring that all code is of high quality, maintainable, and follows best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, collaborating with other teams as needed
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, technical guides, and API documentation

Requirements

• BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from a reputable university in Ethiopia or abroad
• At least 5 years of experience in backend software development, with a focus on scalable and efficient systems
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, or C#
• Experience with backend frameworks and technologies, such as Spring Boot, Django, or .NET Core
• Strong understanding of database systems, including design, development, and optimization
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure, and containerization technologies, such as Docker
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience in leading teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
