Job Description

Major Responsibilities

Project management and leadership:

Lead and coordinate the project to achieve the overall objective of strengthening community resilience through Financial Inclusion, Skills Development, and Livelihood Diversification.
Oversee the implementation of a broad range of resilient interventions, including Promoting Climate-Resilient and Nutrition-Sensitive Mixed Farming
Promoting evidence-based decision-making among partners, and sustain project interventions
Coordinate with technical and administrative staff, including the MEAL Coordinator, Project Officers and Finance Manager, to ensure efficient project delivery.
Manage project budgets and resources in line with the planned expenditure across all years of the project.
Manage and approve project-related travel, for staff and participants.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and local office supplies.
Oversee the implementation of a broad range of Fostering Social Inclusion, Peace building, and Local Ownership.
Stakeholder and Communities Engagement:

Engage with a diverse range of formal and informal stakeholders, including state authorities, value chain actors, producers, farmers, and at different levels.
Ensure that community-driven, field-level activities are at the heart of the program.
Facilitate inclusive governance-building initiatives, ensuring the interests of all stakeholders are considered.
Liaise, network and maintain good working relationships with implementing partners and relevant government offices at all levels.
Monitoring, Evaluation Evidence and Knowledge Management:

Lead and coordinate with MEAL coordinator, and MEAL team on the use of innovative monitoring tools to collect evidence on rest on Resilient interventions.
Ensure the collection and synthesis of socio-economic data to guide interventions and inform policy decisions.
Conduct regular assessments and audits to ensure adherence to established standards and to facilitate continuous improvement
Oversee the collection and synthesis of evidence, including using innovative monitoring tools like SAVIX/MIS App, to inform decision-making.
Facilitate cross-learning and lesson-sharing to inform WFP programs, civil society, and governments.
Generate and present robust evidence of the project’s socioeconomic outcomes to stakeholders
Capacity Building & Field Support

Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to staff and local partners.
In collaboration with National Office design and facilitate training programs for staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill enhancement
Conduct field visits to monitor program quality and provide hands-on support to ensure the project meets its objectives of strengthening the resilience of communities, increasing the Climate smart Agriculture, Local value chain development, financial inclusion and rural enterprises
Train new staff and partners on context specific resilient interventions practices, evidence-based decision-making among partners, and strengthening climate smart interventions and value chains sectors
Resource Mobilization & Donor Engagement

Support resource mobilization of initiatives of the project by sharing information, supporting proposal development, and advocate for resource allocation for resilient initiatives by government ministries and agencies.
Engagement with Government & Sector Networks

Represent the organization in Regional Advisory Committee of the project and other related regional technical working groups and sector coordination platforms that project engaged with.
About You
Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification

MSc. in Rural development, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Development Studies and related Field etc
Required Professional Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical and project coordination and management roles within international development or humanitarian contexts.
Demonstrated experience in managing multi national projects, particularly in contexts related to land restoration, rangeland management climate change adaptation, and community resilience in agrarian, nutrition and livelihood contexts of Ethiopia.
Proven ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, communities, and research institutions.
Experience in a project that combines technological innovations with strong, inclusive community engagement.
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and cost analysis.
Experience in evidence-based programming and a capacity to use data to guide interventions and adaptive management.
Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities related to rural livelihoods and the natural resource base in the agrarian and pastoral contexts of Ethiopia.
Excellent communication skills
Strong understanding of Ethiopian policies, strategies, and regulatory requirements related with re-greening, climate change initiatives.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams.
Strong report writing, analytical, and presentation skills in English.
Required Language(s)

English and Knowledge of local language is advantageous
Required travel and/or work environment accommodations

Based in Dera/South Gondar project location, with frequent travel to project sites (Fogera, Dera and Farta).
Regular external engagement with HAF, partner NGO, Private sector and government
Field conditions may include challenging terrains, limited infrastructure, and security-sensitive areas.
Extended hours may be required during report submissions and whenever required.

Demonstrated success and previous experience managing project across resilient, climate smart Agriculture, Financial inclusion, local value chain development and resilience building
Experience in fragile, conflict-affected both in agrarian and pastoral contexts
In-depth knowledge and previous experience of program quality standards, evidence-based approaches, and innovation in resilience building, and strengthening on farm and off farm enterprises and value chains development programming
Familiarity with localisation frameworks, partnership models, and systems-strengthening approaches.
Applied knowledge of cross-cutting themes: gender equality, safeguarding, conflict sensitivity, faith and development, do no harm, social inclusion, and climate resilience.
