Job Title: Protection Officer

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Protection Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients, staff, and assets. The Protection Officer will work closely with various stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential risks, develop and implement effective protection strategies, and provide training and guidance to staff on protection-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats to clients, staff, and assets
• Develop and implement protection plans and strategies to mitigate identified risks
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure effective protection measures
• Provide training and guidance to staff on protection-related matters, including security protocols and emergency response procedures
• Monitor and report on protection-related incidents and trends
• Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote a safe and secure environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Law, Social Sciences, or International Relations
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a protection-related role, preferably in a humanitarian or development organization
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian laws and regulations related to protection and human rights
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing protection plans and strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with knowledge of other local languages an advantage
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies and crises
• Commitment to upholding the principles of protection and human rights, with a strong sense of integrity and professionalism
