Farm Manager Job Description

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of our farm. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of farm production, including crop and animal management, equipment maintenance, and staff supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural management and a passion for sustainable farming practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement farm production plans to achieve optimal crop yields and animal health
• Supervise and manage farm staff, including training and performance evaluation
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment and facilities
• Manage farm finances, including budgeting and inventory control
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including environmental and health safety standards
• Coordinate with external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies

Requirements

• BSc degree in Agricultural Sciences, Animal Science, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in farm management or a related field
• Proven knowledge of crop and animal management, including soil science, irrigation systems, and animal nutrition
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and motivating staff
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Familiarity with Ethiopian agricultural laws and regulations, including the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) and the Ministry of Agriculture
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on productivity and efficiency
• Proficiency in Amharic and English, with knowledge of local languages an advantage
