Job Title: Protection Officer

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Protection Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients, staff, and assets. The Protection Officer will work closely with various stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential risks, develop and implement effective protection strategies, and provide emergency response services as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats to clients, staff, and assets
• Develop and implement protection strategies to mitigate identified risks
• Provide emergency response services, including first aid and crisis management
• Liaise with local authorities, such as police and emergency services, to ensure effective collaboration and response
• Train staff on protection protocols and procedures
• Monitor and report on protection-related incidents and trends
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to protection

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Law, Social Sciences, or Emergency Management
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a protection-related role, preferably in a humanitarian or development context
• Knowledge of Ethiopian laws and regulations related to protection and human rights
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing protection strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies
• Fluency in Amharic and English; knowledge of other local languages an asset
• Certificate in first aid or emergency response an advantage
