Job Title: Project MEAL Officer (Addis Ababa/Harar/Jimma)

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project MEAL Officer to join our team in Addis Ababa, Harar, or Jimma. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing effective Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems to track project progress, ensure accountability, and facilitate learning and improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the success of our projects in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement MEAL plans and frameworks to measure project performance and progress
• Design and conduct surveys, assessments, and evaluations to collect data and inform project decisions
• Develop and maintain databases and data management systems to store and analyze MEAL data
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor project activities, identify challenges, and document best practices
• Collaborate with project staff to integrate MEAL findings and recommendations into project planning and implementation
• Facilitate training and capacity-building activities for project staff and partners on MEAL principles and practices
• Ensure that MEAL systems and processes are compliant with organizational policies and donor requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., statistics, sociology, economics, or international development) from a recognized Ethiopian university
• At least 2 years of experience in MEAL or a related field, preferably in an international development organization
• Proven experience in designing and implementing MEAL systems, including data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends and patterns
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Fluency in English and Amharic (spoken and written) is required; fluency in other local languages is an asset
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with MEAL software and databases (e.g., SPSS, STATA, or Tableau)
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites in Addis Ababa, Harar, and Jimma
