Job Title: Project Food Security and Livelihood Officer (Geze Gofa)

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Food Security and Livelihood Officer to join our team in Geze Gofa. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing food security and livelihood projects, with a focus on improving the livelihoods of vulnerable communities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others and contribute to the development of Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project plans, budgets, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Conduct needs assessments and analyses to identify food security and livelihood needs of target communities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and other development partners.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to local communities, farmers, and other stakeholders to improve agricultural productivity and livelihoods.
  • Manage and supervise project staff, including training and mentoring to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, including identifying and mitigating risks, and making adjustments as necessary to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university.
  • At least 3 years of experience in food security and livelihood project management, preferably in a similar context.
  • Proven experience in project planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community mobilization skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box.
  • Fluency in Amharic and English, with knowledge of local languages an added advantage.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites, including rural areas.
