Job Title: Project Coordinator- Dessie (Children in Street Situation Project)
Brief Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Coordinator to join our team in Dessie, Ethiopia, to work on our Children in Street Situation Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing project activities, ensuring the project’s objectives are met, and working closely with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and partner organizations. The Project Coordinator will play a key role in promoting the well-being and development of children in street situations, and contributing to the overall success of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement project activities, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring, to ensure the project’s objectives are met
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including community leaders, government agencies, and partner organizations
- Conduct needs assessments and baseline studies to inform project design and implementation
- Develop and manage project work plans, budgets, and reports, ensuring timely and effective delivery of project activities
- Facilitate training and capacity-building programs for project staff, community members, and other stakeholders
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a cohesive and effective project implementation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
- At least 3 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in a similar context (children in street situations, community development, etc.)
- Proven experience in project planning, implementation, and management, with a strong focus on results-based management
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in Amharic and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations in Ethiopia
- Ability to travel frequently to project sites and other locations as required
- Familiarity with Ethiopian labor laws, regulations, and standards, particularly those related to child protection and development
