Job Title: Procurement Officer

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Procurement Officer to join our team. As a Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for the procurement of goods, services, and works, ensuring that all procurement activities are carried out in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations. You will play a key role in sourcing and acquiring high-quality products and services, managing procurement processes, and building strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement plans and strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Conduct market research and analyze market trends to identify potential suppliers and opportunities for cost savings
  • Prepare and manage procurement documents, including tenders, requests for proposals, and contracts
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure best value for money
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, including purchase orders, invoices, and payment records
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, stakeholders, and internal customers
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and relevant laws and regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field, preferably in a similar industry or organization
  • Professional certification in procurement, such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) or equivalent, is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and regulations, including the Ethiopian Federal Procurement Proclamation
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and experience with procurement software and systems
  • Fluency in English and Amharic, with the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment
