Job Description

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Oversee end-to-end import and export operations including shipment planning, documentation, customs clearance, and delivery.
Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian Customs Commission (ECC) procedures, National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) directives, and Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) regulations.
Manage and coordinate import permits, letters of credit (L/C), export permits, and other relevant trade documents.
Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, clearing agents, inspection agencies, and transport companies to ensure timely and cost-effective logistics.
Supervise the operations team and provide regular performance feedback.
Prepare periodic operations reports and propose cost-saving and process improvement strategies.
Coordinate product certifications, quality checks, and inspection processes for exported coffee.
Maintain strong supplier and buyer relationships both locally and internationally.
Ensure timely repatriation of export proceeds and support forex transaction follow-up.

About You
Required Qualifications:

BA/BSc degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in import/export operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Deep knowledge of Ethiopian import/export laws, customs procedures, NBE foreign exchange guidelines.
Proven experience working with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and governmental regulatory bodies.
Strong organizational, leadership, and negotiation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
