Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator
Brief Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing effective MEAL systems to track program performance, ensure accountability, and promote learning and improvement. The MEAL Coordinator will work closely with program teams to develop and implement MEAL plans, conduct data analysis, and provide insights to inform program decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive MEAL plans and systems to track program performance and progress towards objectives
- Design and implement data collection tools, including surveys, focus groups, and other methods to collect relevant data
- Conduct data analysis and provide insights to program teams to inform decision-making and improve program performance
- Develop and maintain databases to store and manage MEAL data, and ensure data quality and integrity
- Coordinate and conduct evaluations, reviews, and assessments to measure program effectiveness and impact
- Ensure that MEAL systems are integrated into program management and decision-making processes
- Provide technical support and capacity building to program teams on MEAL concepts, tools, and methods
- Ensure that MEAL activities are conducted in a participatory and inclusive manner, involving stakeholders and beneficiaries
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government agencies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as statistics, sociology, economics, or international development, from a recognized Ethiopian university
- Minimum 3 years of experience in MEAL, preferably in a development or humanitarian context
- Proven experience in designing and implementing MEAL systems, including data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with data analysis software, such as SPSS or STATA
- Fluency in English and Amharic, with ability to communicate in other local languages an asset
- Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies an asset
- Strong understanding of MEAL principles, including accountability, transparency, and learning
