Mining Superintendent

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Mining Superintendent to oversee our mining operations in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our mines, while also implementing best practices to optimize production and minimize costs. This is a senior leadership role that requires strong technical, operational, and managerial skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive mining plans and strategies to achieve production targets and objectives
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the mine, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements
• Manage and supervise a team of mining engineers, supervisors, and technicians to ensure effective execution of mining operations
• Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance and geology, to ensure seamless integration of mining activities
• Analyze production data and identify areas for improvement, implementing changes to optimize mining efficiency and reduce costs
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and reports to ensure effective financial management of mining operations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university, such as Addis Ababa University or Arbaminch University
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mining operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian mining regulations and safety standards, including the Ethiopian Mining Proclamation and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Proven experience in mine planning, operations, and management, with a strong understanding of mining methods and technologies
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of professionals
• Proficiency in mining software and systems, such as MineScape or Surpac, and experience with data analysis and reporting tools
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
