Brief Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced contractor to undertake the solitarization and rehabilitation/expansion of ground water source water supply schemes. The successful bidder will be responsible for designing, constructing, and commissioning the water supply schemes to provide safe and reliable drinking water to the community. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a critical infrastructure project that will have a significant impact on the lives of many people.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a thorough assessment of the existing ground water source water supply schemes and identify areas for improvement
- Design and construct new water supply infrastructure, including boreholes, pumps, pipelines, and storage tanks
- Rehabilitate and expand existing water supply infrastructure to increase capacity and efficiency
- Implement a water distribution system that ensures equitable access to safe and reliable drinking water for all members of the community
- Develop and implement a plan for the operation and maintenance of the water supply schemes, including training for local staff
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Ethiopian laws, regulations, and international best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
- At least 5 years of experience in the design, construction, and management of water supply schemes, with a focus on ground water sources
- Proven track record of successfully completing similar projects in Ethiopia or other developing countries
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian laws and regulations related to water supply and sanitation
- Experience in working with international donors and NGOs is an advantage
- Fluency in Amharic and English is required, with knowledge of other local languages being an advantage
- Registration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity and other relevant professional bodies is required
