Construction Machinery – Senior Mechanic

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanic to join our team, responsible for the maintenance and repair of construction machinery. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and a proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues. As a Senior Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our construction equipment, minimizing downtime, and contributing to the overall success of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with construction machinery, including hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to prevent equipment failures and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime
• Supervise and mentor junior mechanics, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively
• Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and procurement, to ensure seamless communication and coordination
• Identify and recommend opportunities for equipment upgrades, modifications, or replacements to improve efficiency and reduce costs

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• At least 5 years of experience as a mechanic, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior or supervisory role
• Proven experience with construction machinery, including brands such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Volvo
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex technical issues
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience supervising and guiding junior mechanics
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
