Community Development Worker

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Development Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating community development programs and projects aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals and communities in Ethiopia. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments and analyze data to identify community development priorities and opportunities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate community development programs and projects in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and partners to support community development initiatives
  • Provide training, capacity-building, and technical assistance to community groups and organizations
  • Facilitate community engagement, participation, and empowerment through inclusive and participatory approaches
  • Monitor and report on program progress, outcomes, and impact, and make recommendations for improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • At least 2 years of experience in community development, social work, or a related field, with a focus on program design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of community development principles, theories, and practices, including participatory and inclusive approaches
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Fluency in Amharic and English, with the ability to communicate effectively in other local languages an asset
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural and urban areas, with a valid driver’s license an asset
  • Commitment to social justice, human rights, and the principles of community development, with a passion for working with marginalized and vulnerable populations
