Agriculture Production Officer (Grade L / FSN 8)
Brief Summary
The Agriculture Production Officer will be responsible for leading and implementing agricultural production activities, providing technical assistance, and ensuring the effective use of resources to achieve project goals. The successful candidate will have a strong background in agricultural production, experience in project management, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement agricultural production plans and strategies to achieve project objectives
- Provide technical assistance and training to farmers, extension agents, and other stakeholders on improved agricultural practices
- Conduct field visits to monitor and evaluate agricultural production activities, identify challenges, and provide recommendations for improvement
- Collaborate with other teams, such as research and extension, to ensure integrated approaches to agricultural development
- Develop and manage budgets, reports, and other documents related to agricultural production activities
- Represent the organization in meetings, workshops, and other events related to agricultural production and development
Requirements
- BSc degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
- At least 5 years of experience in agricultural production, project management, or a related field
- Proven knowledge of agricultural production practices, including crop and animal husbandry
- Experience in working with smallholder farmers, agricultural extension agents, and other stakeholders
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
- Fluency in English and Amharic; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage
- Ability to work in a team, think critically, and solve problems
- Willingness to travel frequently to rural areas, including remote and underserved communities
