Job Title: Gender and Safeguarding Officer (Addis Ababa/Jigjiga/ Jimma)

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gender and Safeguarding Officer to join our team in Addis Ababa, Jigjiga, or Jimma. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting gender equality, preventing and responding to safeguarding concerns, and ensuring that our programs are safe and inclusive for all stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to promote gender equality and prevent safeguarding concerns within our programs and operations
• Conduct training and capacity-building programs for staff and partners on gender, safeguarding, and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA)
• Establish and maintain a system for reporting and responding to safeguarding concerns, including allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure that gender and safeguarding are integrated into all aspects of our work, including program design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation
• Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation to assess the effectiveness of our gender and safeguarding initiatives and identify areas for improvement
• Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including government agencies, community leaders, and civil society organizations, to promote our gender and safeguarding agenda
• Provide technical support and guidance to staff and partners on gender and safeguarding issues, including the development of policies, procedures, and training programs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as gender studies, social work, or international development, from a recognized Ethiopian university
• At least 3 years of experience working on gender and safeguarding issues, preferably in a humanitarian or development context
• Strong understanding of gender and safeguarding principles and best practices, including PSEA and child protection
• Excellent training and facilitation skills, with experience in designing and delivering training programs for diverse audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to think critically and strategically
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with ability to communicate effectively in other local languages an asset
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with flexibility to travel frequently to field locations
