Lead Procurement Engineer (Vacancy code- Procurement 007/2026)

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Procurement Engineer to join our team. As a Lead Procurement Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the procurement engineering team, developing and implementing procurement strategies, and ensuring that all procurement activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve company objectives
  • Lead and manage the procurement engineering team to ensure that all procurement activities are conducted efficiently and effectively
  • Conduct market research and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure that all procurement activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and finance, to ensure that all procurement activities are aligned with company objectives
  • Develop and manage procurement budgets and forecasts to ensure that all procurement activities are conducted within budget
  • Ensure that all procurement activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures, as well as all relevant laws and regulations

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field) from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong technical background and knowledge of procurement principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends and opportunities for cost savings
  • Knowledge of Ethiopian laws and regulations related to procurement, as well as international best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Certification in procurement, such as CIPS or equivalent, is an advantage
