SUPPLY CHAIN OFFICER- AFAR PROJECT

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supply Chain Officer to join our team in Afar, Ethiopia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, logistics, and inventory management, to ensure the smooth operation of our project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective supply chain strategies to support project goals and objectives
  • Manage and coordinate all procurement activities, including tendering, contracting, and purchasing of goods and services
  • Oversee logistics and transportation operations, including warehousing, inventory management, and distribution
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services
  • Analyze and resolve supply chain issues, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure alignment of supply chain activities with project goals and objectives
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and reports related to supply chain activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in a project-based environment
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, logistics, and inventory management principles and practices
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English and Amharic; knowledge of Afar language is an advantage
  • Willingness to work in a remote area with limited infrastructure and resources
