Job Title: Director, Evidence & Learning
Brief Summary
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Director, Evidence & Learning to lead our organization’s efforts in generating, synthesizing, and applying evidence to inform programming, policy, and decision-making. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our evidence and learning strategy, ensuring that it aligns with our organizational goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive evidence and learning strategy that aligns with the organization’s overall goals and objectives
- Oversee the design, implementation, and dissemination of research studies, evaluations, and assessments to inform programming and policy decisions
- Lead the development of a culture of learning and experimentation within the organization, promoting the use of evidence to drive decision-making and improvement
- Collaborate with external partners, including academia, research institutions, and other organizations, to advance the field of evidence and learning
- Provide technical guidance and support to program teams on the integration of evidence and learning into their work
- Manage and mentor a team of evidence and learning professionals, providing coaching and development opportunities to enhance their skills and capacities
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as public health, social science, education, or international development, from a recognized Ethiopian or international university
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a related field, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership position, preferably in an international development or non-profit organization
- Proven track record of developing and implementing evidence and learning strategies, with a strong focus on generating and applying evidence to inform programming and policy decisions
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex research findings into actionable recommendations
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in managing and mentoring teams, and promoting a culture of learning and experimentation
- Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences
- Familiarity with the Ethiopian context, with knowledge of the country’s development priorities, policies, and regulations
