Job Title: Construction Engineer (Material Management Focused)

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Engineer with a strong focus on material management to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective management of construction materials, as well as overseeing the construction process to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, excellent communication and project management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective material management strategies to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
• Collaborate with procurement teams to source high-quality materials and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value for money
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans
• Coordinate with other departments, such as quality control and safety, to ensure that construction activities are carried out in a safe and controlled manner
• Analyze data and reports to identify trends and areas for improvement, and implement changes to optimize material management processes
• Provide technical guidance and support to site staff and subcontractors to ensure that construction activities are carried out in accordance with project plans and specifications

Requirements

• BSc degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction engineering, with a focus on material management
• Professional certification, such as PE or PMP, is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques, as well as relevant Ethiopian building codes and regulations
• Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
• Proficiency in MS Office and project management software, such as Primavera or MS Project
• Fluency in English and Amharic is required, with knowledge of other local languages being an advantage
