Job Title: MERL Field Officer
Brief Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) Field Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of MERL activities in the field, ensuring high-quality data collection, and contributing to the development of reports and other documents. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the improvement of our programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of MERL plans, including data collection tools and methods
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor program activities, collect data, and identify areas for improvement
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including community leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations
- Ensure timely and accurate data collection, entry, and analysis, and provide feedback to program teams
- Participate in the development of reports, briefs, and other documents, including data visualization and presentation
- Identify and document best practices, lessons learned, and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with program teams to integrate MERL findings into program design and implementation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Statistics, Economics, Sociology, or Public Health
- At least 2 years of experience in MERL, research, or a related field, preferably in a development organization
- Strong knowledge of MERL principles, methods, and tools, including data collection and analysis
- Experience with data management software, such as Excel, SPSS, or STATA
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to interpret complex data
- Fluency in English and Amharic, with ability to communicate in other local languages an asset
- Willingness to travel frequently to field locations, including rural areas
