Senior Accountant Job Description

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the accounting function, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing financial guidance to management. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting team and oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian accounting standards, tax laws, and other regulatory requirements
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness
• Provide financial analysis and insights to management to inform business decisions
• Manage the company’s cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
• Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits
• Identify areas for cost savings and implement cost-reduction strategies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a senior role
• Professional certification such as CPA (Ethiopia) or ACCA is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and accounting standards
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
• Fluency in English and Amharic is required; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage
