Senior Accountant

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounting functions of our organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial matters. This is a senior role that requires strong technical skills, excellent analytical abilities, and outstanding leadership qualities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to management to inform business decisions
• Manage and coordinate the annual budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including preparation and submission of tax returns
• Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, bankers, and other stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• Professional certification in accounting, such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
• At least 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a senior role
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and regulations, as well as international financial reporting standards
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong leadership and mentoring skills
• Proficiency in accounting software, such as SAP or Oracle, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
