Job Description

To lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of Shabelle Bank’s hybrid IT environment by driving the strategic transition from on-premise hardware to scalable cloud solutions. This role aims to ensure 99.9% system availability, minimize operational risks through robust disaster recovery protocols, and align infrastructure spending with business growth through efficient OPEX management. By filling this critical role to provide expert oversight of Shabelle Bank’s core system and cloud infrastructure to ensure a secure, high-performance platform for all organizational applications.
 

Develop, implement, and oversee the computing management strategy to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of all systems within the Bank.
Manage the daily workload of the IT infrastructure team to prevent burnout and ensure task alignment with Shabelle Bank’s goals.
Oversee the integration and stability of on-premise servers and cloud-based resources.
Establish policies and procedures to govern system and cloud administration practices.
Lead the design and architecture of computing solutions, ensuring they align with business requirements and technical specifications.
Forecast future infrastructure needs to prevent performance bottlenecks before they impact the staff.
Design, implement, and regularly test automated backup and recovery solutions for all critical core systems.
Establish high-availability (HA) configurations to ensure 99.9% service uptime for Shabelle Bank’s essential applications.
Orchestrate the systematic patching of OS vulnerabilities across all Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows environments.

Implement and audit security protocols, including SSL/TLS certificates, firewall rules (UFW/Security Groups), and encrypted storage.
Maintain a “Live” detailed inventory of all hardware assets, software licenses, and cloud deployments.
About You
Qualification: Master’s Degree/ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
Experience with 6/8 years of Systems administration, respectively, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role. Strong knowledge of Linux and Unix-based (Oracle Solaris, Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) systems administration is mandatory. Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Oracle LDOM, Nutanix) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Telecloud).
