Laboratory Technologist for Blood Bank

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine laboratory tests, including blood typing, cross-matching, and antibody screening
• Analyze blood samples to detect any abnormalities or irregularities
• Ensure the safety and quality of blood products by following strict protocols and guidelines
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory results and blood product inventory
• Collaborate with medical staff to resolve any issues or concerns related to blood transfusions
• Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain high standards of laboratory practice
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies and developments in the field of blood banking and laboratory medicine

Requirements

• BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• At least 2 years of experience working in a blood bank or laboratory setting
• Registration with the Ethiopian Medical Laboratory Technologists Association (EMLTA) or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, blood banking principles, and quality control measures
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work accurately
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with a strong commitment to patient care and safety
