Junior General Accountant

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior General Accountant to join our finance team. As a Junior General Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial statements, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, and providing support to the senior accounting staff. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain experience and develop their skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure that all transactions are properly recorded and accounted for
• Provide support to the senior accounting staff in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Perform other accounting-related tasks as assigned by the senior accounting staff

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• 0-2 years of experience in accounting or a related field, with a strong foundation in financial accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in accounting software, such as Peachtree or QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Certification in accounting, such as CPA or ACCA, is an advantage but not required
• Fluency in English and Amharic is required, with knowledge of other local languages being an advantage
