Job Title: Head of Sustainability

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Head of Sustainability to lead our organization’s sustainability strategy and initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive sustainability plan that aligns with our company’s mission and values. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with the company’s mission and values
• Conduct sustainability assessments and identify areas for improvement
• Develop and manage sustainability reports and metrics to track progress
• Collaborate with stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives and raise awareness
• Identify and mitigate sustainability risks and opportunities
• Develop and manage budgets for sustainability initiatives and projects
• Provide training and capacity-building programs to employees on sustainability issues
• Represent the company in external sustainability forums and networks

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian or international university
• At least 5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field, with a proven track record of developing and implementing sustainability initiatives
• Strong understanding of Ethiopian and international sustainability standards, frameworks, and regulations
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Amharic and English languages is required
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
• Membership in a professional sustainability organization or network is an added advantage
